Helicopter ist ein energiegeladenes Trio, das an der Schnittstelle von Jazz, Punk, freier Improvisation und rohem Klangchaos abhebt. Mit Peter Van Huffel, Roland Fidezius und Simon Camatta verbindet die Band das brennende Feuer der Berliner Underground-Szene mit der kreativen Dynamik des Ruhrgebiets.
Entstanden aus einem spontanen Treffen im Rabbit Hole Theater (Essen) im Januar 2024, ist Helicopter eine explosive Fusion aus Melodie, Lärm, Groove und furchtloser Improvisation. Während Peter und Roland – langjährige Mitstreiter im Thrash-Jazz-Trio Gorilla Mask – ihren Sound in unerforschtes Klangterritorium vorantreiben, bringt Simon, eine treibende Kraft in der Avantgarde-Szene NRWs, seine unverwechselbare rhythmische Intensität ein. Das Ergebnis: eine unvorhersehbare Reise – manchmal turbulent, immer elektrisierend.

Helicopter is an energetic trio that takes off at the intersection of jazz, punk, free improvisation, and raw sonic chaos. With Peter Van Huffel, Roland Fidezius, and Simon Camatta, the band combines the burning fire of the Berlin underground scene with the creative dynamism of the Ruhr region.

Born out of a spontaneous meeting at the Rabbit Hole Theater (Essen) in January 2024, Helicopter is an explosive fusion of melody, noise, groove, and fearless improvisation. While Peter and Roland -longtime collaborators in the thrash jazz trio Gorilla Mask – push their sound into uncharted territory, Simon, a driving force in North Rhine-Westphalia’s avant-garde scene, brings his unmistakable rhythmic intensity to the mix. The result: an unpredictable journey – sometimes turbulent, always electrifying.


The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8.00 pm CET - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CET.
Exceptions during wintertime - eg on Sundays - are possible.
